Why go
The landmark beside your round was built for ships.
A lighthouse, a sea wind and enough golf to make an afternoon of it.
Highland Links sits on the bluffs of North Truro beside Highland Light. The course belongs to the Truro Highlands Historic District, within Cape Cod National Seashore, where a lighthouse, former resort buildings and golf share a long coastal history.
A landscape that kept its links character
Highland’s rough, heath and Atlantic exposure are central to the golf. The course became federal property with the creation of Cape Cod National Seashore.
More of the story
The experience is compact and exposed. Natural rough and the surrounding coastal vegetation give the playing ground its character, while the Atlantic supplies a view that changes with the weather. You do not need a championship grandstand to feel that you have arrived somewhere distinctive.
Make a small outing of it. A round can sit comfortably beside time at the lighthouse and the surrounding historic district. The attraction is the combination: a familiar game, a working coastal landmark and a stretch of Cape Cod that rewards moving slowly.

How to play Highland Links
- Book through the Highland Links website. Choose nine holes for one circuit, or eighteen for a second loop.
- Request clubs or a cart if needed, and check local operating conditions before heading out to North Truro.
Before you go
A nine-hole visit leaves room for the surrounding Truro Highlands Historic District; check individual attractions’ opening times.
A playing thought
Bring a layer for the Atlantic wind. Try a lower, controlled flight when conditions call for it, and choose targets that leave room away from deep rough.
