Why go
Your tee time is 10 p.m. Daylight has other plans.
The usual race against sunset loses its meaning on this stretch of Arctic coast.
Lofoten Links sits at roughly 68 degrees north, on the island of Gimsøya. During the midnight-sun season, the sun remains above the horizon. The course describes its core midnight-sun window as mid-May to late July, with enough light for round-the-clock golf extending into early August.
A tee time after dinner
In the midnight-sun season, you can finish dinner before heading to the first tee. Staying nearby makes the unusual timing easier to enjoy.
More of the story
That changes the rhythm of a golf trip. Dinner can come before the first tee. A late round can stretch into the small hours while the sea, rock and mountain silhouettes stay in view. You still have to read the wind; the unusual part is looking at your watch.
The rocky second hole offers a compact introduction to the setting. But the experience belongs to the whole round: staying outside, following the coast and discovering how easily one more hole becomes several.
Make it happen
How to play Lofoten Links
- Book a tee time directly and select the correct resort-guest or visitor category. Reserve rental clubs with the round.
- If midnight light is the reason for the trip, ask the course to match your dates and tee time to its midnight-sun window.
Before you go
Aim for the core summer midnight-sun period. Confirm greens condition before paying; the operator reported restoration work earlier in 2026.
A playing thought
Pack for an exposed coastal walk and make the wind part of club selection. A late start feels unhurried, but other groups still need their turn.
