Why go

Between holes, you get back on the highway.

The question after a hole is not simply which club comes next. It is how far you are driving before you need it.

Nullarbor Links stretches an 18-hole, par-72 course across 1,365 kilometres, between Kalgoorlie in Western Australia and Ceduna in South Australia. Participating towns and roadhouses along the Eyre Highway each contribute a stop to the round.

Your scorecard becomes a passport

Collect a stamp at each stop, then have the completed card checked at the finishing visitor centre for your completion certificate.

More of the story

This is golf arranged around a journey. Instead of walking a loop back to the clubhouse, you carry your scorecard across a vast stretch of southern Australia. The spaces between the holes become part of the experience.

The idea also changes who can enjoy the trip. A golfer has a reason to stop and play; everyone else has a reason to get out, look around and see the next place. Finishing the round means you have crossed a landscape, not just negotiated eighteen greens.

Make it happen

How to play Nullarbor Links

  1. Buy your scorecard and maps at the Ceduna, Norseman or Kalgoorlie visitor centre. Have the card stamped at each stop.
  2. Call Kalgoorlie’s pro shop the day before those holes to arrange a tee time. Plan other stops around roadhouse and visitor-centre hours.

Before you go

Treat this as a journey over several days. Fuel stops, road conditions and overnight stays determine the schedule.

A playing thought

Bring older irons or hire clubs for the rugged ground. Follow the course’s guidance on teeing the ball up to protect both equipment and the environment.
