Why go

The wildlife hasn’t checked the tee sheet.

At most courses, a pause in play means another group is ahead. In Kruger, there can be other reasons.

Skukuza’s golf course sits within Kruger National Park, with no perimeter fence separating it from its natural surroundings. Wildlife can move through the area; a sighting is a possibility rather than a scheduled part of the round.

No bunkers. Plenty of other complications.

The course is unfenced, and the club describes its many trees as the aerial hazards. Nine greens are played from eighteen tees.

More of the story

That makes attention part of the experience in a different way. You are visiting a place that belongs to animals as well as golfers, and the club’s instructions matter more than any urge to get a closer photograph.

The attraction is not a promise of a particular animal on a particular hole. It is playing golf in a landscape where the boundaries of the usual sporting routine are visibly different.

Make it happen

How to play Skukuza

  1. Contact the club or submit its reservation form for confirmation.
  2. Coordinate your tee time with Kruger entry and gate hours. Ask the club about its current wildlife instructions before arriving.

Before you go

Leave a margin between the end of your round and your required park exit or camp arrival.

A playing thought

Follow staff direction around wildlife and give animals space. A ball near an animal is a reason to wait and ask for help, not to step closer.
